"Dance Is Hours of Practicing the Boring Things Before You Can Do the Cool Things" (Dance In The Life)
Meet Professional Dancer Maddie (who works as postdoctoral researcher with a background in rat models of substance abuse!)
“I have always been pretty obsessed with looking at “a day in the life of” style posts on blogs and websites and Allure videos and so on, where I can see what “makes a dancer” who they are. You can find some here and there from major dance publications, but they are few and far between if you are as obsessive as I…. I want to know ALL things about ALL the magic people and not JUST those on stage.
I want dance educators. I want students. I want adult ballet aficionados.
(And yes, I want the pros I’ve admired all my life)
Enter: “Dance In The Life”.
We all know ‘day in the life’ posts but, if you’re like me, you want to know a full 24-hours in the lives, stretches, habits, meals, second jobs outfits and high buns of your dream dancers, teachers and friends.
Read on to meet Maddie… and please SHARE if you want more people in this field to see the shine! I could write about Maddie ALL DAY but let me leave room for you to read about her rituals yourself. That being said, Maddie is such a dance photographers’ muse that I had to add a ton of extra shots of her because she is a true chameleon: She can make a role as if it’s made of her… and then go back to being humble, honest and completely herself in the wings. Her ability to turn a character “on” and off feels worthy of an Actors Guild of sorts, but the fact she has the day job that she has (you gotta keep reading) is all the more impressive.”
